2010 Census Info

2010 CENSUS: BE COUNTED!

What: The census is a count of everyone residing in the United States. The 2010 Census form will contain ten questions and will require only ten minutes to complete. The confidentiality of all data you provide on your Census form is protected by federal law.

Who: All residents must be counted – people of all races and ethnic groups, both citizens and non-citizens.

When: You should receive a Census form at your home in the U.S. mail in March, which should be filled out and returned as soon as possible. If you do not receive a form, call 1.866.872.6868 (Spanish/Español: 1.866.928.2010). Households that do not respond may receive a replacement questionnaire by early April, and may be visited by Census workers thereafter.

Why: The Census is a vital tool used for apportioning seats in the House of Representatives, drawing state and local legislative districts, distributing federal funding, and planning for public safety strategies, transportation, schools, hospitals, facilities for special needs populations, and land use.
